Hubballi Dharwad will get 50 well-equipped Bus shelters soon. The bus shelters will be built under Design, Build, Operate and Transfer (DBOT) basis.
Bengaluru-based Avinash Outdoor Advertising agency has taken up the task of building bus shelters across twin cities. Each bus shelter will be built at a cost of ₹5 Lakhs.
The agency is likely to complete the construction of bus shelters in a month or two. One of the bus shelters constructed by the agency looks something like this.
At present, 3 bus shelters have been completed in Hubballi at Lamington Road, Court circle near Sai Baba temple, and Basaveshwara Nagar on Gokul Road.
Hubballi Dharwad is one of the fastest-growing cities in Karnataka. But the twin cities were deprived of basic bus shelters creating hassle to the daily commuters.
City buses are still one of the most convenient ways of commuting in the twin cities. But the absence of bus shelters has forced commuters to stand in the scorching sun while waiting for their buses.
Another private agency has also approached HDMC and NWKRTC to construct 500 Smart bus shelters across Hubballi Dharwad. The bus shelters will have all modern facilities including Free Wi-Fi, CCTV cameras, etc.
