If everything goes as per plans, Hubballi Dharwad will get 500 Smart Bus Shelters/Stops soon. Both Hubballi and Dharwad cities will get 250 each Bus Shelters.
In the first phase, 100 Bus Shelters will be built (50 each in Hubballi and Dharwad) on major roads in twin cities. It will be extended to other parts including residential areas in phases.
NWKRTC MD Bharath S said that “We have identified 100 bus stop locations in Hubballi and Dharwad cities. Pilot construction of 2 bus stops (one each in Hubballi and Dharwad) will be starting soon”
The bus shelters will have all modern facilities including Free Wi-Fi, CCTV Camera for increased security, UPS backed-up LED lights, Mobile charging, and 2-wheeler EV charging points.
The bus shelters will have a 500m radius map around it mentioning essential landmarks. The bus stops will also have a route map of the bus stop for the benefit of citizens.
The bus stops will have a small public utility shop (Either ATM, Milk booth, Xerox center, Flower shops, Laundry, etc). The bus stops will have Wheelchair and Senior Citizen friendly amenities.
Then MD of NWKRTC, Gurudutt Hegde had given a green signal to the proposal by ‘AdConcepts’ a Hubballi-based company to build Smart Bus Shelters across Hubballi Dharwad.
The bus stops will be built under Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) model. The bus stops will be strategically located to avoid traffic issues as far as possible.
Hubballi Dharwad will be one of the very few cities in India to get state-of-the-art bus shelters. The aesthetically pleasing bus shelters will definitely increase the beauty of the twin cities.
