The State is threatened with the resurgence of Covid-19 cases, already declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization. A large number of persons affected by Covid-19 are in need of treatment, which at present is being provided by Public Health Institutions (PHIS) and Private Healthcare Organizations.
Private hospitals have represented before the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka in the meeting held on 01.05.2021 to enhance the Package Rates of Treatment in each category taking into account the increasing costs in recruiting manpower and consumables costs. The representation has been considered in depth by the Director of Health and Family Welfare and the Technical Committee.
Now, the Government of Karnataka has issued the following orders to revise the package rates for the Public Health Institution and Private Healthcare Organizations for the treatment of Government referred Covid-19 patients.
Package rates for the Treatment of Covid-19 patients per day referred by the Public Health Authorities
- General ward – ₹5200.
- High Dependency Units (HDU) – ₹8200.
- Isolation ICU without Ventilator – ₹9750.
- Isolation ICU with Ventilator – ₹ 11500.
Whereas, the Department of Health and Family Welfare in an order dated: 23.06.2020 has ordered Reserving of Beds in private hospitals for treatment of Government referred Covid-19 patients; An order has already been issued dated 06.04.2021 by the Chairman State Executive Committee, SDMA, directing the aforementioned order of Department of Health and Family Welfare Services (DHFW) to be in force until further orders.
‘Non-Adherence or Non-Compliance to the order by any Private Healthcare Providers will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides suitable legal action under the relevant section of IPC, and other Legal provisions as applicable’ said P. Ravi Kumar (Chief Secretary to the Government of Karnataka) in a press release.
