MCH Block of Civil Hospital, Dharwad will now treat Covid Patients

The Mother and Child Health (MCH) block at Civil Hospital, Dharwad will now be used to treat Covid-19 patients. The MCH block was constructed under National Urban Health Mission at a cost of ₹ 26.17 Crores.

The MCH block has a capacity of 130 beds. All the beds are equipped with Oxygen Provision to treat Covid-19 patients. At present DIMHANS staff are maintaining the hospital, and few Doctors from KIMS have also been deployed to take care of Covid patients.

Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi said that ‘The District Administration will buy additional 150 Beds under Disaster Management Fund. Newly procured beds will be used by Civil Hospital, Dharwad. The District Administration is prepared to tackle the growing Covid cases on a war footing’ he added.

A week back, it was decided to convert the MCH block into a full-fledged Covid Care Center. Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar, DC Nitesh Patil, and officials from the hospital were present.
