IIIT Dharwad is an institute of national importance set up in the year 2015. IIIT, Dharwad is located at Sattur Colony in Dharwad. It is one of the 25 IIITs in the country.
IIIT-Dharwad is a Public Private Partnership between the Ministry of Education – Govt of India, Keonics (Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation), and the Government of Karnataka.
The IIIT-Dharwad campus is spread across 60 acres of Land with modern design and contemporary infrastructure. A small campus tour of the institute is shown below.
The primary objective of setting up IIIT-Dharwad is to address the Skill gap in high-end Information Technology and enable India to retain its global leadership in IT and Allied areas.
IIIT-Dharwad offers B.Tech programs in 3 disciplines. 1) Computer Science and Engineering, 2) Electronics and Communication Engineering, and 3) Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
The Main building referred to as π block houses the Board room, Chairperson, Director, and Registrar offices. It also has a Knowledge Resource Center and an Incubation space.
The Academic block has large-sized classrooms and laboratories (to accommodate 120 students). There are two 120-seater classrooms and one 240-seater classroom.
The Boys Hostel has about 200 rooms spread over 6 floors. The Infosys Foundation Girls Hostel is built by Infosys as a gift to the institute. It has about One hundred rooms.
The campus also has the Health and Fitness block that houses a Wellness Center, Pharmacy, Gymnasium, Yoga room, Canteen, e-bank, and a shop for essential supplies.
IIIT-Dharwad has full academic autonomy with its own Academic Senate with Professors from other reputed institutes and industry members. The institute follows a credit-based system to gauge progress.
