Hubballi Dharwad is the 61st cleanest city in India

Hubballi Dharwad has managed to get 61st rank at the national level in the Swacch Survekshan Survey-2022 conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Hubballi Dharwad secured 61st place by competing with 382 cities with a population of 1 to 10 Lakh. Hubballi Dharwad was at 25th rank in 2021, while it was at 208th and 235th rank in 2020 and 2019 respectively.

Mysuru bagged the Cleanest city in Karnataka by securing 2nd place at the national level (in the 1-10 Lakh population category).

Apart from Mysuru and Hubballi-Dharwad, only Shivamogga managed to feature in the top 100 ranks. The performance of other cities in Karnataka is as follows

  • Shivamogga – 97th rank.
  • Davanagere – 143rd rank.
  • Mangaluru – 146th rank.
  • Kalaburgi – 149th rank.
  • Belagavi – 171st rank.

The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, presented the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2022 at a function held in New Delhi today.

Indore, the city of lakes and palaces, walked away with the Cleanest City title for the sixth consecutive year in the ‘more than 1 lakh population category, while Surat was adjudged the second cleanest city, for the second time in a row.

Indore further cemented its position by emerging as India’s first 7-star Garbage Free city, while Surat, Bhopal, Mysuru, Navi Mumbai, Vishakhapatnam, and Tirupati earned 5-star Garbage Free certifications.

Hubballi Dharwad has managed to earn 3-star Garbage Free certification only. The President formally released the Swachh Survekshan 2022 dashboard and gave away the top 12 awards.

Over the years, Swachh Survekshan (SS) Survey has emerged as an effective tool for Transforming the Urban landscape and to evaluate the progress of cleanliness in Urban local bodies.

This year’s Survekshan was participated by 4,355 cities. And it saw an unprecedented number of citizens’ feedback – over 9 crores, compared to 5 crores last year.
