One of the most anticipated projects of the twin cities of Hubballi Dharwad, The widening of the 2-lane Hubballi Dharwad bypass to 6 lanes is in full swing.
Many had anticipated that the Election results and the formation of the new government may hamper the speed of widening the bypass, but thankfully the work is progressing at a good speed.
As of now, the flattening of land and strengthening of the land is in progress. Hillocks on the way are being flattened to make way for the widening. The progress of hillock flattening is seen below.
Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone for the much-awaited Widening of Hubballi Dharwad bypass on February 28th, 2022.
National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had called a tender for the Widening of the existing 2-lane (31.6 km) Hubballi Dharwad bypass to 6 lanes on 8th January 2022.
The project will be executed under EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) mode, and is likely to be completed within 2.5 years. The estimated cost of construction is ₹1200 Crores.
All toll plazas across the existing 2-lane HD bypass will be removed, and only one Toll plaza will be constructed. And another thing to note is that travelers between Hubballi and Dharwad will be exempted from paying the toll.

The project will include the following facilities: Street lighting, Tree plantations, Bus bays and Shelters, Traffic and Medical aid post, Vehicle rescue post, and Highway patrol units.
Complete the project with in the stipulated time
During the rainy season water logging is the major issue in joints please correct while construction
Wider road dividers, with lights, trees should be provided. Lights should have preferably solar panel system. Lay bays should be provided for heavy vehicles in case of emergency.
Please remove the toll price for avoiding traffic in Hubli Dharwad
People traveling between Hubballi and Dharwad need not pay the toll

Plz make a way for rain water harvesting through out the highway. Which helps in water harvesting. And others also can do the same.
Plz note that still Nandi highway is collecting Toll it should be stopped immediately as thecwidening work is going on .
Work sholud be completed in stipulated time which will have big relief to people.
