Hubballi Airport to be disabled-friendly soon

Hubballi Airport is all set to be a disabled-friendly airport under the “Accessible India Campaign” promoted by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

As per the plan, Hubballi Airport will get Tactile flooring, disabled-friendly Signages & Parking, and a Helpdesk to provide all the necessary information.

Airports Authority of India has called a Tender to execute the works worth ₹ 42.53 Lakhs (excluding GST). The project is likely to be completed within 4 months.

Glimpse of the Hubballi Airport

The helpdesk will provide all the information about Accessible features in the airport including Washrooms and Drinking water facilities etc.

A Tactile or Audio map of the terminal for directions will be provided by the Helpdesk. A Tactile map of the airport showing points of interest with Braille script in 3 languages (Kannada, English, and Hindi).

An Accessible Environment is one, where Persons with Disabilities will have no barrier in entering and using all the facilities. The Accessible environment benefits everyone, not just Persons with Disabilities.

Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) launched the Accessible India Campaign as a nationwide campaign for achieving universal accessibility for Persons with Disabilities in the year 2015.
