ECI announces dates of Karnataka Elections 2023

Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule of the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections (Member of Legislative Assembly) today (Wednesday 29th March 2023).

Karnataka will undergo single-phase polling on May 10th, 2023. The results of the same will be announced by May 15th. Detailed schedule of Karnataka election 2023 is as follows.

Date of Issue of Gazette notification: 13th April 2023 (Thursday), Last date of making nominations: 20th April 2023 (Thursday), Date of scrutiny of nominations: 21st April 2023 (Friday).

Last date for withdrawal of Candidatures: 24th April 2023 (Monday), Date of Poll: 10th May 2023 (Wednesday), Date of Counting or Karnataka election 2023 results date: 13th May 2023.

The term of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled Karnataka government ends on May 24th, 2023. The model Code of Conduct has come into force after the announcement of the Election dates.

Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that Karnataka will undergo Single phase polling on May 10. Election will be held on the same day for all 224 constituencies.

In the 2018 Karnataka elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won 104 votes, Indian National Congress (INC) had won 80 and Janata Dal Secular (JDS) had won 37 seats.

A total of 36,769,954 votes were cast in the 2018 elections including 30,392 invalid votes. Karnataka had recorded 72.50% Votes cast/turnout in the 2018 elections.

Kitturu Karnataka region gave the highest number of seats to BJP, Kalyana Karnataka gave the most seats to Congress while Mysuru Karnataka gave the most seats to JDS.
