The University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Dharwad is all set to host the 4-day annual Krishi Mela 2023 starting from today. The event will be held from 9th to 12th September 2023.
Chancellor of the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Dharwad Dr. P.L. Patil said “It has been decided to celebrate the event with the slogan Millets for Sustainable Agriculture”.
Krishi Mela will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today at 11:30 AM. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Speaker Basavaraja Horatti, Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi, Labor Department and District In-charge Minister Santosh Lad and other ministers and MLAs will attend the function.
More than 15 Lakh farmers are expected the attend the Krishi Mela 2023 at Dharwad. Millets will be the highlight of the event as 2023 has been recognised as the International Year of Millets.
Agenda of the Krishi Mela 2023: Celebration of International Year of Millets 2023, Organic Farming, Millets Production, Value Addition and Marketing of Agricultural products, and Information on researched varieties and modern agricultural technologies.
Exhibition of Fruit, Flower and Vegetable crops, Environment conservation, Agricultural machinery, Interaction with successful farmers, Agricultural consultation, and Forest livestock exhibition will be part of the Krishi Mela 2023.
Chief Minister Siddharamaiah’s Dharwad visit: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will arrive in Dharwad district on September 9 (today) to attend various functions.
CM Siddharamaiah will arrive at Hubballi by a Special flight from Bengaluru at 10:00 AM today. He will visit the Kargil Memorial near the Dharwad District Collector’s office at 11-30 AM to pay his respects.
At 11:50 AM he will inaugurate and observe the Fruit, Flower and Insect World Exhibition organized at the Farmers Knowledge Development Center on the occasion of Krishi Mela 2023 at UAS, Dharwad.
He will then inaugurate and observe the Krishi Mela Exhibition at 12:15 PM. Chief Minister Siddharamaiah will inaugurate Krishi Mela 2023 on the Main stage at 12:30 PM.
Chief Minister Siddharamaiah will then arrive at Hubballi Airport by road from UAS, Dharwad at 3:00 PM. He will leave for Bengaluru at 3:00 PM on a special flight, stated Chief Minister’s Special Duty Officer in a Press release.
