North Karnataka’s first dedicated Air Cargo Terminal is almost ready and likely to be operationalized soon. AAI Cargo Logistics and Allied Services (AAICLAS) is converting the old terminal of Hubballi Airport into a full-fledged Cargo Terminal at an estimated cost of ₹ 65Lakhs.

Built-up area of the Cargo terminal is around 700 sq.m and can handle 15,000 Metric Tons of Cargo per year. Terminal has separate arrangements for Incoming and Outgoing Cargo. Separate space has been provided for Valuable goods and Dangerous products.

Hubballi Airport Director Shri. Pramod Kumar Thakre informed that regulatory authorities have completed their Preliminary Inspection, and the process for Final Inspection has been initiated. The Design & Execution level approval has already been obtained.

Final Approval is likely to be obtained by the end of March 2021. Till then BCAS has also accorded approval for the movement of Cargo through the Existing Passenger Terminal Building, which will be commenced in a week in coordination with operating Airlines as a time being measure.

Air traffic is slowly increasing from Hubballi Airport and getting back towards Pre-Covid levels. Cargo is also steadily increasing, the addition of Cargo terminal will definitely help Business and Trading communities of the region.
