At present Hubballi Airport is handling Code C type of aircraft like Airbus A320. By extending the runway the airport will be able to handle Code D aircraft (majorly cargo aircraft like Boeing 757/767).

Adequate land is available for expansion of the Runway. At present the runway of Hubballi Airport is around 2.6km long, by adding 600m to the existing runway it becomes much easier to operate bigger and modern aircrafts.

The Cargo Terminal at Hubballi Airport is getting ready. Once the runway expansion is completed, we can expect bigger Cargo aircraft to arrive at HBX.
