World’s Longest Railway Platform at Hubballi to be inaugurated tomorrow

The World’s Longest Railway Platform constructed by South Western Railway (SWR) at Shri Siddharooda Swamy Railway Station, Hubballi will be inaugurated on March 12 (Tomorrow).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the platform at 2 PM tomorrow. The inauguration ceremony will take place from the IIT Dharwad inauguration event at Dharwad.

South Western Railway (SWR) has constructed the World’s Longest Railway Platform at SSS Hubballi Railway Station at an estimated cost of ₹20.1 Crores.

Now, Hubballi Railway Station holds the unique record of having the Longest Railway Platform in the World. The length of the new Platform is 1,507m.

Extension of the platform has also increased the number of platforms at Hubballi Railway Station to 8. Earlier, Hubballi Railway Station had only 5 platforms.

The longest platform facilitates the operation of 2/3 trains at once, reducing the wait time for trains entering Hubballi. Earlier, trains used to wait at Hubballi outer to get platform clearance.

The project including the Remodeling of Hubballi yard has cost SWR a whopping ₹90 Crores. The yard remodeling was undertaken as part of the Guntakal to Vasco and Bengaluru to Hubballi doubling project.

Earlier, Gorakhpur Railway Station (The headquarters of North Eastern Railway) had the Longest Railway Platform in the world with a platform length of 1,366m.

South Western Railway (SWR) has installed a signboard stating “You are at World’s Longest Railway Platform”. The signboard is likely to be a Selfie point for the youth.
