One of the most important projects for the people of Hubballi Dharwad, the widening of Hubballi Dharwad bypass is progressing at a good pace. Here’s the latest update on the same.
As of now, the flattening of land and strengthening of the land is in progress. Hillocks on the way are being flattened to make way for the widening.
Also, Construction of underpasses and bridges is in progress at many places. By looking at the progress when compared to the last month, we can say that the work is going on at a very good pace.
Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone for the much-awaited Widening of Hubballi Dharwad bypass on February 28th, 2022.
National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had called a tender for the Widening of the existing 2-lane (31.6 km) Hubballi Dharwad bypass to 6 lanes on 8th January 2022.
The project is being executed under EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) mode, and is likely to be completed within 2.5 years. The estimated cost of construction is ₹1200 Crores.
All toll plazas across the existing 2-lane HD bypass will be removed, and only one Toll plaza will be constructed. Another thing to note is that travellers between Hubballi and Dharwad will be exempted from paying the toll.

The project will include the following facilities: Street lighting, Tree plantations, Bus bays and Shelters, Traffic and Medical aid posts, Vehicle rescue posts, and Highway patrol units.
