Karnataka High Court has accorded Green signal for the much awaited Hubballi Ankola Railway Line project. All the hurdles for the project have now been nullified.
The Honourable High Court has dismissed the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by some organizations. The new railway line is expected to improve connectivity and boost economic activities in the Uttara Kannada district.
The PIL was submitted based on 3 factors to cancel the Hubballi Ankola Railway line. However, the High Court of Karnataka dismissed the points in the PIL. The points and the reply by the High Court are as follows.
Point number 1) The petitioners claimed that the State Wildlife Board meeting that approved the project was illegal. Reply: The high court has refused to accept the same.
Point number 2) The railway line passes through the Kali Tiger Reserve. Reply: Members of the Railway Seva Samithi have proved that the line doesn’t pass through the Kali Tiger Reserve.
Point number 3) The plea also suggested that the Hubballi Ankola Railway line passes through an Eco-sensitive zone. Reply: The railway line passes 14km away from the Eco-sensitive zone.
South Western Railways (SWR) has filed an affidavit, stating that a mitigation plan will be worked out and a fresh proposal will be submitted as per the directions of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL).
The affidavit also mentioned that the work of the Hubballi Ankola Railway line will start only after getting approval for the fresh proposal submitted by SWR in consultation with NBWL.
Former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee performed Bhoomi Pooja for the Construction of the Hubballi Ankola Railway Line in 2002. However, the project was delayed due to opposition from environmentalists.
It’s LONG awaited Railway Line, people of North Karnataka throng to visit Holy places, leisure days at Arabian Sea & Western Ghats every year. They will travel safely now in a ONE DAY leisure holiday. Railways earn income from it.

Good to know about the long awaited project will start without any further delay and it will definitely boost the economic growth of North Karnataka region, 2002 to 2023 its been 21 long years. We should penalise the people and the Unwanted Organisations influenced and indulged in making this project delay.
It is matter of great concern that fake Environmentalist with fake PIL should get punished with hefty amount for valuable time of Honourable courts wasting unnecessary 22 years of time and further creating big bottle neck for such projects by depriving previlege the people of North canara .I further request authorities especially SWR expedite project in fast mode to make it reality

Corrupt People,Today i came back from 5 days journey from goa i feel very sad i don’t have RAILWAY line to go to my favorite sea shore destinations to murudeshwar, ankola, gokarn, back waters of honnavar, karwar to enjoy beautiful beaches rather than paying to goa state i could have stayed here in my state lakhs of people THRONG GOA over for celebrating the holidays crores of rupees goes to GOA tourism sector giving Lakhs of people jobs to every person from coolie, in train food sellers auto rickshaw to the cook who serve food and people who clean rooms, a lot this can be done in our state all the hotels come up in my state income below up.
Elevated corridors may be proposed for animals crossing and wherever possible construct Tunnels to train track, it should be designed such it can accommodate railway track doubling near future.

I thank the Hon’ble High court of Karnataka for giving jurgment in favour of railways, for construction long waited new railway in which our Hon’ble Prime Minister Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee led the boomi pooje for this Hubli – Ankola in the year 2002

I reuest, now without delay,
Prime minister Of Bharat and Railway Ministery , SWR and Government Of Karnatak must release more fund to Hubballi to Ankola railway line project as early as possible.
