Hubballi Dharwad Bus Rapid Transit System (HDBRTS) has initiated the Under Flyover space improvements to the Unkal Flyover under the Bannada Chigari campaign.
As per DULT, the piers of the flyover will be decorated with Paintings on Environmental Conservation, Sculptures, and Seating arrangements will be provided.
DULT has planned to plant decorative trees to improve the aesthetics of the space. Also, Decorative streetlights will be installed increasing the beauty of the space.
To enhance safety, Grills will be installed separating the area from vehicular movement. The 3 Flyovers at Unkal, Unkal cross, and Navanagar will be developed in a similar way.
HDBRTS has already initiated the improvements to the Flyover at Unkal Lake. With the development of the Public spaces below the flyover, the HDBRTS Corridor will get aesthetically pleasing looks.
NWKRTC and HDBRTS MD Bharath Selvan said that they will develop spaces below all three flyovers. Design and Tender process is in progress for other two flyovers apart from the Unkal Flyover.
The Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) had recently invited proposals to Design and Develop Public spaces below the 3 Bus only Flyovers along the HDBRTS Corridor.
Key goals of the Bannada Chigari campaign: Strengthening people’s sense of Identity in the Transit BRTS Station, enlivening the Transitory space to create a pleasant experience.
Also, to Relive the unused spaces under the Flyovers along the HDBRTS corridor into Activity pockets. Artworks and Sculptures will be installed in the area.
Very good idea.But let us hope civic sense prevails upon the citizens.With small eateries start opening to cater to to them there is every possibility of all unwanted activities that will pose great risk of vehicular congestion & accidents.The authorities should not allow any commercial activity
Mainly, Small shops can be opened and DUSTBINS should be and No Smoking/Spitting Boards should be hanged over!
