South Western Railway (SWR) has registered ₹227.10 Crores of Passenger Revenue during the month of August-2022. The revenue generated is an all-time record.
‘South Western Railways has also surpassed 50 Million Originating Passenger Traffic from April 2022 to August 2022’ said SWR in a press release here.
SWR has registered ₹1084.89 Crores as far as Passenger Earnings are concerned during the current financial year up to August 2022, which is an increase of 140.70%.
In the month of August 2022, 12.21 million originating passengers were transported by SWR as against 5.83 million passengers during the financial year of 2021-22.
This has resulted in achieving an important milestone of transporting of 58.31 Million Passengers during the current financial year.
To cater to the demands of the passengers, 23 Special train services were run to various destinations during the month of August 2022.
Further, to meet the demands of the traveling public and to increase earnings, special trains to various destinations during the festival season have also been proposed.
Apart from it, SWR had also added extra coaches to the trains to clear the extra rush during the Festive/Holiday season. And that helped SWR to increase the revenue generated.
It may be noted that more than 99% of the train services of South Western Railways, have been restored as compared to the pre-covid period.
