South Western Railways (SWR) has successfully completed the CRS (Commissioner of Railway Safety) Inspection and Speed Trial with Electric loco in between Hubballi East Cabin and Alnawar today. Recently, SWR had conducted Electric loco trials at Dharwad prior to CRS inspection.
The 65RKm section in between Hubballi East Cabin and Alnawar is part of the Hosapete-Hubballi-Tinai Ghat Electrification project. Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) is executing the project. 99RKm section in between Hosapete-Hulakoti has already been commissioned and the remaining section i.e Hulkoti to Hubballi and Alnawar to Castlerock is likely to be commissioned by June/July 2021.
Rail Vikas Nigam Limited(RVNL) officials along with Shri A.K.Singh Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern Region inspected Hubbballi Traction Sub Station (TSS) around 9.30 AM. Inspection Special train then moved to Hubballi East Cabin, the starting point of CRS inspection.
On the way to Dharwad, RVNL officials inspected a Sub-Sectioning and Paralleling Post (SSP) at Amargol. Officials also inspected Navalur Railway Station and the ROB near Navalur. At Dharwad, a newly built Foot Over Bridge(FOB) was examined and general inspection of Dharwad Railway Station was carried out.
Further towards Alnawar from Dharwad, officials examined Kyarkop Signaling and Paralleling Post (SP) and Kasanahatti Sub-Sectioning and Paralleling Post (SSP). They also examined Mugad and Alnawar Railway Stations.
Coming to the important part of the inspection i.e Speed trial of Electric locomotive in between Alnawar to Hubballi East Cabin was conducted by WAP-7 belonging to Krishnarajapuram (KJM) shed. SWR completed speed trial as WAP-7 E-loco reached Hubballi East Cabin around 5:50 PM.

It may still take for Electric locomotives to enter SSS Hubballi Jn (around 6 months). But the goods train can use electric traction till Alnawar as soon as Hulakoti to Hubballi East Cabin is electrified.
