AAI is installing an 8MW Ground-mounted Grid-connected Solar Power plant at Hubballi Airport which is expected to generate around 140 Lakh units of electricity. The electricity generated at Hubballi Airport will be enough to cater the needs of airports in Karnataka (except KIAL and Mangaluru International Airport)

Gujarat-based Madhav Infra is executing the project at an estimated cost of ₹ 64Crore. 22,500 Solar Panels are being installed at different orientations and tilt angles to generate maximum electricity.

The power consumed by various domestic airports in Karnataka is almost 136 Lakh units. So the electricity generated at Hubballi Airport can easily be utilized to pay the bills generated by other airports.
