Mandatory to display Bed Allocation Board in Hospitals

The Government of Karnataka has issued a notification to reserve 50% of the beds in private hospitals to treat Covid-19 patients referred by Public Health Authorities. However, some patients are finding difficulty in getting beds even after the allocation is made by Central Allocation System.

This is causing a lot of hardship to patients. Therefore, it is made mandatory that all hospitals registered under K.P.M.E in Karnataka should display at the Reception counter The Bed Allocation Display Board, which should display the following details:

  • Name of the Hospital
  • Total number of beds (as per K.P.M.E registration)
  • Total number of beds allocated for Covid-19 patients

Similar arrangements shall be made in all the Health Care Institutions in all the Districts of Karnataka with immediate effect.

Non Compliance with this order will attract punishment under relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Karnataka Epidemic Disease Act, 2020 said P. Ravi Kumar (Chief Secretary to Government) in a Press release.
