Koppikar Road, one of the major shopping destinations of Hubballi City is being re-built. Many citizens and businessmen were demanding to improve the condition of the road for a long time.
Hubballi Dharwad Smart City Limited (HDSCL) is developing Koppikar Road under Package 2 of the Smart Street Scapes and Junction Improvements project.
However, many citizens took to Twitter and expressed their concerns over the substandard works being undertaken by the HDSCL.
Ashraf Ali Bashir Ahmed said that “The road work undertaken by HDSCL isn’t smart at all. Look at the haphazard way the pavers are laid and the interior quality of the asphalt being laid”.
When we compare the same road improvement projects undertaken by Bengaluru Smart City Limited, we can clearly see the difference in the quality of construction.
For instance, the picture below is from Brigade Road, Bengaluru (Pic courtesy: Syed Asif, Times of India). The quality of Asphalt, pavers, and overall construction is much much better than Hubballi.
Hubballi Dharwad has the worst road infrastructure in Karnataka. Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) should be implemented as soon as possible to improve the infrastructure.
As per the plan, Koppikar Road alongside Coen Road, Station Road, Victoria Road, Broadway, etc will have Underground ducts for Utility pipelines and Electric Cables, Underground Drainage System, Wide Footpaths, and LED Streetlights.

Any political leaders or parties they don’t wants to improve, developing Hubli.
As long as Mr. Prahlad Joshi is the MP of this constituency, Hubli-Dharwad there is zero hope.
Guys compare to Koppikar road, Dajibanpeth in Hubli generate more revenue and the road condition there is horrible…
We should not be confined to a particular place or roads, overall the total infrastructure in Dharwad – Hubli is in pathetic condition. We struggle very hard to bring it to”Smart City ” living conditions. If everything goes well, central-state government in alignment with corporation, they may provide fecility to citizens; later it becomes our duty to maintain it & follow the rules framed by corporation.
Let us wait & watch………

Agreed 👍 But at the same time, we need to build roads that lasts longer
Place a sign board near the padma talkies Victoria Road (i.e Road is closed ahead). Many vehicles are entering into the Victoria Road and ahead the work is going on and the road is closed, four wheelers are facing problem for taking it reverse.
No….actually before the work start even we thought it will the Model road for Hubli..but now it’s not upto the exception

Is Koppikar Road the only business centre….. What about Jantha Bazar, Dajibanpeth Road…. Work going on from the last two & half years…… Is it in Hubballi?
Politicians have taken hubli for granted for many a years now. Compared to davangere our infrastructure is pathetic. Roads have been and are being constructed…but there is no check on the quality. There is no cleaning done. Pavers work is not good. Contractors says after paying commissions at all level this the quality they can deliver. Until we as citizens raise our voices and fight for our rights….situation will remain same.
It’s so true that the quality of work as in drawing and as anticipated that the road would be as Commercial Street Bangalore is not as per that expectations.
