A longstanding request for a high-quality Sports Complex in North Karnataka is to be fulfilled soon. A full-fledged Integrated Sports Complex is coming up at Murarji Nagar in Hubballi.
Recently, Union Minister and Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi reviewed the progress and infomed that 50% of the works have been completed. The outdoor sports facilities will be ready by December 2023 and Indoor sports facilities will be available by June 2024.
Hubballi Dharwad Smart City Limited (HDSCL) is constructing the Integrated Sports Complex at a cost of around ₹166 Crores under Khelo India mission. The details of the facilities are as follows.
The Integrated Sports Complex will support Multi-disciplinary sports. The facility will cater to the needs of 19 types of Sports including Indoor and Outdoor sports.
The Outdoor Sports facilities that are provided in the complex are as follows: 1) Hockey (Synthetic) field as per FIH standards. 2) Football (Synthetic) field as per FIFA standards.
3) Athletic Track (Synthetic) – 6 Lane 400m track, 8 Lane 100m track as per IAAF standards. 4) Tennis – 2 Synthetic courts as per ITF standards. 5) Skating Rink as per FIRS standards.
6) Kho-Kho court as per NCG Standards. 7) Volleyball Courts – 2. 8) Competition cum Diving Pool – 10 lane Racing Pool are included as far as Outdoor sports are concerned.
The Indoor Sports facilities that are provided in the complex are as follows. 1) Badminton Court (Synthetic) – 12 Courts. 2) Table Tennis – 6 Tables. 3) Archery Range – 25m, 4 Lane.
4) Pistol & Rifle Shooting Range – 10m, 6 Lane. 5) Wrestling Courts (Synthetic) – 1 Court. 6) Kabaddi Court (Synthetic) – 1 Court. 7) Basketball Court (Synthetic) – 2 Courts.
8) Martial Arts – 2 Courts. 9) Squash – 2 Courts. 10) Training/Warm-up Pool – 10x20m. 11) Traditional Mud Wrestling Ring – 1 Court are included as far as Indoor sports are concerned.
The Outdoor Sports activities will occupy 6.75 acres of Land. All the buildings will cover around 2.75 acres while Driveways, Pathways, and Landscaping constitute 5.5 acres.
The Integrated Sports Complex in Hubballi is part of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi‘s ambitious Fit India campaign. Once completed it will be one of the most equipped Sports facilities in North Karnataka.
