Hubballi Railway Station gets one more Pitline

South Western Railway (SWR) has inaugurated one more Pitline in the yard of Shri Siddharooda Swamy (SSS) Railway Station, Hubballi under the Gati Shakti mission.

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Hubballi division posted the news on their social media accounts. The new pitline has increased the number of pitlines in Hubballi to 5.

Pitlines are used for Inspection and Routine Maintenance work of under-carriage parts of trains. Moreover, the facility is also used for cleaning of the rakes to make it fit for the next journey.

Pit lines are the main infrastructure required for conducting Primary maintenance of coaches of both Express and Passenger trains. Addition of pitlines increases the train handling capacity of the Railway Station.

Hubballi division of South Western Railway has a total of 7 pitines in its jurisdiction. Among them, 5 pitlines are in Hubballi (CAMTECH design) and one each in Belagavi and Vasco Da Gama (Non CAMTECH design).

Addition of a pitline in Hubballi enables South Western Railway (SWR) to originate/terminate at least 2-3 extra trains from/to Hubballi Railway Station.

Taking to Twitter, DRM Hubballi tweeted that “A new Pitline Number 5 at SSS Hubballi constructed by GatiShakti Unit of Hubballi Division was commissioned today (23 August)”.

“This will facilitate enhanced Coach Maintenance facilities at Hubballi. On the occasion, Shri Sanjeev Kishore, GM/SWR inspected the Pitline & appreciated the good work” he added.

Prime Minister launched PM Gati Shakti essentially a digital platform for Integrated Planning and Co-ordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects across the country.

  1. Gadag junction need one big electric locoshed. As 3 lines are existing and 3 more line are going to construct. And 3 new platform must Be constructed in gadag it must be done next to 1 number platform

  2. Good to know that growing number of passengers are using Hubli Airport for their connectivity requirements, cargo and mail transport. AirBus 320 flights are a welcome addition. Let the services from this airport grow.
