If everything goes well, Hubballi Airport will soon get a direct flight connection with Pune. Many flyers were requesting Star Air to start direct flights to Pune from here.
Shrenik Ghodawat, the Managing director of the Ghodawat group said that “We have plans to add Pune to our Star Air destinations, which will connect the city with tier 2/3 cities”. Source here.
Star Air had won the bid to operate Udan flights in between Hubballi and Pune (Udan-2). However, the airline didn’t start operations citing Aircraft availability issues and Convenient slot issues at Pune Airport.
As of now, Hubballi Airport is connected with Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi (Hindon), Hyderabad, Mangaluru, Mumbai, and Mysuru. IndiGo is likely to add a few more flights by end of the month.
