South Western Railway (SWR) has decided to revise the composition of Train number 20657/20658 SSS Hubballi – Hazrat Nizamuddin (Delhi) – SSS Hubballi Weekly Superfast Express.
As per a press release by SWR, 3 AC Three Tier Economy coaches have been added to train 20657 effective from 9th February 2024 departing from SSS Hubballi Railway Station.
On the return direction, the train 20658 Hazrat Nizamuddin (Delhi) – Hubballi will get 3 AC Three Tier Economy coaches from 11th February 2024. The revised composition is as follows.
3 Tier Economy Coach (3E) offers amenities similar to those found in traditional 3-tier AC coaches. While the traditional 3-tier AC coaches have 72 seats, the AC-3 Economy coaches feature 83 seats.
The only major difference between the two is the inclusion of a Side middle berth. The side middle berth in 3E class makes it a bit congested in the daytime, while it is just manageable in the nighttime.
Train 20657/20658 will run with 1 AC First Class, 2 AC Two Tier, 4 AC Three Tier, 3 AC Three Tier Economy, 6 Sleeper Class, 2 General Second Class Antyodaya, 1 Pantry Car and 2 Luggage and Brake Vans with Generator Cars. Total 21 coaches.
Now, the train is running with 10 Sleeper coaches, 3 3-tier AC coaches, 2 2-tier AC, 1 AC First class coach, 2 General class, 2 EOG coaches and One Pantry Coach.

However, the move to add AC Three Tier Economy coaches comes at a cost as South Western Railways has decided to reduce the number of Sleeper coaches from 10 to 6.
Train 20657 Hubballi Hazrat Nizamuddin (New Delhi) Weekly Superfast Express departs Hubballi Railway Station at 11:50 PM every Friday and reaches Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station at 10:40 AM on Sunday.
En route, the train stops at Gadag, Badami, Bagalkot, Basavana Bagewadi Road, Vijayapura, Solapur, Kurduwadi, Daund, Ahmednagar, Kopargaon, Manmad, Bhusval, Itarsi, Rani Kamalapanti, Jhansi, Gwalior, and Agra Cantonment.
Train 20658 Hazrat Nizamuddin Hubballi Weekly Superfast Express departs Hazrat Nizamuddin at 3:55 PM every Sunday and reaches Hubballi Railway Station at 4:00 AM on Tuesday.
