In order to regulate the illegal entry of private vehicles into the dedicated corridor, Hubballi Dharwad Bus Rapid Transit System (HDBRTS) has installed Boom Barricades at various junctions and started testing them across the dedicated corridor.
HDBRTS had installed Boom Barricades at some junctions last year but they were not put into use. Now, they have started installing them at all major junctions. According to TNIE, a total of 68 Barricades will be installed at all junctions.
Installation of Boom Barricades was a long pending demand but for some reason installation of barricades was delayed. Many citizens breach the dedicated corridor restrictions, approximately 30,000 violations are reported every month.
Not just citizens, Government vehicles including Police vehicles often violate the dedicated corridor restrictions. Installation of the Boom Barricade will prevent the entry of private and government vehicles as they will not be having an RFID tag or permission to open the gate. As a result, many accidents in the dedicated corridor can be prevented.
