Dharwad to get a new modern City Bus Terminal (CBT)

There is some good news for the citizens the Dharwad city! In a positive development, the Karnataka government has sanctioned ₹13 Crores for the reconstruction of the Dharwad City Bus Terminal (CBT) on the 19th of October.

North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) MD Bharath Selvan shared the news on Twitter. Karnataka government has also sanctioned the redevelopment of the Gokul Road New Bus Stand in Hubballi city.

The redevelopment of the City Bus Terminal (CBT) in Dharwad was a long pending demand by the citizens of Dharwad. The infrastructure at Dharwad was in dilapidated condition lacking even the basic facilities.

The tweet by NWKRTC MD has gone viral on Twitter, attracting 28 reposts and 173 likes. The post has gathered 14k views testifying to the need for an improved City Bus Terminal in Dharwad.

Dharwad citizens have welcomed the move to redevelop City Bus Terminal in Dharwad. Many users have suggested some improvements and suggestions to the post made by NWKRTC MD Bharath Selvan on Twitter.

Veeresh (@Veeresh8690) said that the current location of CBT has a huge traffic problem and it is in the Mid of market area and surrounded by roads from all sides.” He insisted on studying the traffic pattern and traffic growth in the future.

Veeresh also insisted NWKRTC to shift the CBT to near Murughamath, Madihal or somewhere nearby. The current CBT area can be used as a pass-through point for the city buses.

Acknowledging the point made by Veeresh, NWKRTC MD Bharath Selvan said “The challenge is identifying new land with sufficient proximity to locations that the public wants to commute. We will try to bring the best out of this project”.

Another user (@myUsername2222_) suggested to consider connecting Mitra Samaja BRTS terminal, the Old bus stand and the City Bus Terminal through Skywalk or Footover bridge. He also added that Pedestrian crossing near Civil Hospital Circle is unsafe.
