Dharwad district to be self-reliant in Medical Oxygen

Dharwad district is all set to become self-reliant in Medical Oxygen requirements. The district administration has tied up with several companies to install Oxygen Plants that can produce around 6 to 7 MT of Medical Oxygen.

Performing Bhoomi Pooja for an Oxygen plant that can produce 500 Litres/Minute at Kundgol, Minister of Industries Jagadish Shettar said that if all the works are completed, the district will be a model for the state.

‘The emphasis is on setting up oxygen plants in all districts in order to reduce the dependence of oxygen supply from Bellary district. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has convinced many companies to install Oxygen Plants under CSR funds’ he added.

Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi said that ‘Kundgol has received 3 Ventilators under PM Cares funds. 32 oxygen units are being set up under the sponsorship of IOCL and MRPL. The oxygen units will be established in all Taluk hospitals. The units are likely to be operational by June end’.

‘There is no shortage of Oxygen concentrators in the Dharwad District. Kundgol Taluk has received around 25 Oxygen Concentrators for the treatment of patients’ he added.

Pralhad Joshi also lauded the district administration for their proactive role in Covid management. Earlier, both the ministers performed Bhoomi Pooja for an oxygen unit that can produce 500 Litres/Minute of Medical Oxygen at Kalaghatagi.

MLA Kusamavati Shivalli, Dharwad DC Nitesh Patil, Dharwad SP P.Krishnakant, S I Chikkanagoudar, PWD Executive Engineer SB Choudannavar, and other officials were present.
