South Western Railway (SWR) is removing the speed restrictions near Haveri to make way for the Vande Bharat Express (Train 18) between Dharwad and Bengaluru via Hubballi.
Recently, SWR has taken the work of straightening the track between Haveri and Byadgi. Trains used to slow down at turns increasing overall journey time.
The straightening helps to increase the Maximum Permissible Speed (MPS) of the section. The straightening not only helps to increase the MPS but also the reduces the overall journey time.
Union Minister and Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi said that “Union government and Ministry of Railways are working hard to introduce Vande Bharat Express between Dharwad and Bengaluru via Hubballi”.
“The straightening of the railway track facilities the movement of Vande Bharat Express at a speed of 130 km per hour, it will increase the speed of other trains in the section” he added.
Pralhad Joshi reiterated that the Vande Bharat Express train service will be introduced between Dharwad and Bengaluru via Hubballi by March 2023.
The doubling and electrification work between Hubballi and Bengaluru are on a war footing. Both Doubling and Electrification works are expected to be completed by March 2023.

Pralhad Joshi added that “The work taken by SWR will resolve technical issues that hinder the speed of trains, and make the track ready for trains to run at much higher speeds”.
Vande Bharat Express, also known as Train-18 is a Semi-high-speed, Intercity, Electric Multiple Unit train operated by the Indian Railways. The train has been tested to operate at 180kmph.
Oh!!! It’s a great news. Please implement it fast. Myself and many of us are eager to travel by this train. What is the duration of the travel?
Likely to be within 5 and half hours
5 and half hour will not make that much of difference we already have a train which runs from belagavi to banglore
Very good Initiave by govt, railway ministry
Govt of india . Railway dpt done great job. Nice insiative. Karnataka drivers & ownwers well fare asn bengalore wishes good luck
Why cannot the proposed train be extended to Mumbai..a Mumbai – Blr Vande bharat that can cover the 1000 kms overnight can change the travelling dynamics for the entire sector
It is a seater train, can’t sit for that long. It will be introduced when Sleeper class Vande Bharat trains gets into service
Bangaluru to Solapur takes 13 hrs and Solapur to Mumbai take 6 hours of present trains , then why Bangaluru to mumbai direct train take 24 hours
