CM BSY hints at the extension of Karnataka Lockdown

Karnataka Lockdown update: CM BSY hinted at the extension of statewide lockdown for few more days. ‘Karnataka is yet to gain control over Covid infection, hence the decision will be taken in the interest of the public’ said CM BS Yediyurappa.

Karnataka is experiencing a dip in new cases since a week. But the positivity rate is still high at around 12%. There are nearly 3 Lakh active Covid-19 cases in Karnataka as of now. Case Fertility Rate(CFR) is relatively high at 3.24%. Continuing Lockdown is necessary to bring to positivity rate less than 5%.

CM BSY also said that the state will allow all export-oriented businesses to operate from Today i.e June 3rd. The CM is likely to announce another Covid-19 relief package probably in 2 days.

The Centre has already announced the Cancellation of the CBSE class 12 exams. Karnataka will soon decide on both SSLC and 2nd PU exams. As of now, both exams have been postponed. SSLC exam was scheduled to start from June 21 and 2nd PU from May 24.

“A decision will be taken after assessing the situation in Karnataka. Opinion gathered on the preparedness of Students, Requirement of Evaluation and other aspects will be considered,” said Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, S Suresh Kumar.
