Air travel down up to 20 percent in Karnataka

Off-season time has reduced the number of passengers travelling through major airports in Karnataka. A reduction of up to 20% was reported in June compared to May month.

As far as domestic passengers is concerned, Mangalore Airport (IXE) reported the highest drop of 22.9% while Hubballi Airport (HBX) reported the least drop of 3.15%.

Mangalore Airport (IXE) had reported 1,20,598 Domestic passengers in May-22. But the numbers dropped to 92,978 in June-22. A decrease of 22.9% has been observed.

Kalaburagi Airport (GBI) had reported 8,425 passengers in May-22. But the numbers dropped to 6,990 in June-22. A decrease of 17.03% has been observed.

Belagavi Airport (IXG) had reported 37,301 passengers in May-22. But the numbers dropped to 32,940 in June-22. A decrease of 11.69% has been observed.

Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) had reported 22,04,233 Domestic passengers in May-22. But the numbers dropped to 19,82,590 in June-22. A decrease of 10.05% has been observed.

Mysuru Airport (MYQ) had reported 17,045 passengers in May-22. But the numbers dropped to 16,349 in June-22. A decrease of 4.08% has been observed.

Hubballi Airport (HBX) had reported 24,628 passengers in May-22. But the numbers dropped to 23,852 in June-22. A decrease of 3.15% (Least in Karnataka!) has been observed.

From early May till the end of September month is considered as off-season time for tourism in India. Generally, reduced passenger load is observed during off-season time in India.
