There is some good news for North Karnataka! Hubballi campus of Infosys, the only IT SEZ in North Karnataka is all set to start operations from August 1st, 2022 (most likely!).
All thanks to the efforts by the StartInfosysHubli team, the tech giant has finally agreed to start operations from its Hubli campus. However, Infosys is yet to release an official statement on it.
‘Start Infosys Hubli’ team members have learned that an internal communication has already been sent to the Infosys employees regarding the opening of the Hubballi campus.
What is ‘Start Infosys Hubli’ campaign? Start Infosys Hubli’ A campaign by like-minded individuals and IT Professionals aimed at operationalizing the Hubballi campus of Infosys.
The team had submitted a letter to CM Basavaraj Bommai to start the Infosys campus as soon as possible. The team had even launched a 10k postcard campaign to seek the attention of CM.
The team had started an online petition on change.org to start the Hubballi campus of Infosys. The petition has received 5,846 signatures so far (and counting!).
Government of Karnataka had allotted 50 acres of land at Gokul Road to the tech giant Infosys to establish IT/ITES business and recognized it as SEZ.
The Phase-1 of the Infosys SEZ is expected to employ around 1500 employees. The campus in its full capacity is expected to employ around 5000 techies in the IT/ITES sector.
The people of North Karnataka were taken by surprise by an announcement from Infosys on 20th June to set up new facilities/recruitment from 6 cities outside Karnataka.
The convenor of Start Infosys Hubli campaign Santosh Nargund, Sham, Uday Pendse, Prashant Singh, and Vijay Sai have expressed their happiness on the victory of the campaign.
