Some good news for the people of Hubballi Dharwad! The much-awaited Widening of the Hubballi Dharwad bypass has finally started showing some progress on the ground.
Union Minister and Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi informed the same through his social media account. The 2 laned bypass will be widened to 6 lanes.
As of now, the flattening of land has started for the widening of the bypass. The widening of Hubballi Dharwad bypass is one of the most anticipated projects for the people of the twin cities.
Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari had laid the foundation stone for the much-awaited Widening of the Hubballi Dharwad bypass on February 28th, 2022.
National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had called a tender for the Widening of the existing 2-lane (31.6 km) Hubballi Dharwad bypass to 6 lanes on 8th January 2022.
All toll plazas across the existing 2-lane HD bypass will be removed, and only one Toll plaza will be constructed. And another thing to note is that travelers between Hubballi and Dharwad will be exempted from paying the toll.
The project will be executed under EPC mode and is likely to be completed within 2.5 years. The estimated cost of construction will be ₹1200 Crores. More details on the project can be found here.
The project will include the following facilities: Street lighting, Tree plantations, Bus bays and Shelters, Traffic and Medical aid post, Vehicle rescue post, and Highway patrol units.
The Hubballi Dharwad bypass has attained the name of Killer bypass. The 30+km stretch experiences heavy traffic, Most of the accidents have happened while overtaking.
