Day 3 of the 4-day Test match between India A and New Zealand A at KSCA Stadium in Hubballi was washed out without a single ball bowled due to the continuous rains.
Hubbali had received a lot of rain yesterday night, the outfield was wet before the start of play. But the non-stopping rain forced the officials to call off the day’s play.
India A team had scored 229 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 66 overs. KS Bharat and Rahul Chahar were unbeaten on Day 2 who scored 74 and 4 runs in 104 and 14 balls respectively.
Priyank Panchal played the captain’s knock by scoring 87 runs in 148 balls. His innings included 12 fours and 2 sixes. Except Abhimanyu Eswaran and Shardul Thakur, all others got out by scoring single-digit runs.
Jacob Duffy and Logan van Beek got 2 wickets each for New Zealand A team. Rachin Ravindra and Sean Solia managed to get 1 wicket each. The team gave away 7 extras (1 LB, 5 W, 1 NB).
The rain is likely to affect tomorrow’s play as well, as the forecast shows a chance of 70-90% precipitation. The match is most likely to end in a draw.
The match received a very good response from the cricket enthusiasts of Hubballi Dharwad. BCCI and KSCA need to host more matches at KSCA Stadium in Hubballi.
