Union minister and Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi inspected the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT Dharwad) yesterday. The construction of the IIIT campus has almost completed.
Built at a cost of ₹114 crores on 60 acres area, IIIT-Dharwad is an institution of national importance. It is a joint venture between the Ministry of Education – Govt of India and Karnataka.
Construction of the Main block, Education block, Hostels, Road and compound works, etc have been completed. The magnificent institute is built at an area of 41,800 sq.m. It can store 1.2 Cr liters of water in the campus.
Union minister Pralhad Joshi has also instructed officials to start an Incubation center on the campus. Pralhad Joshi was accompanied by DC, IIIT Director, and other officials.
Most of the work has already been completed and the institute is likely to be inaugurated by April or May.

The iconic main building is equipped with Administrative offices and Meeting rooms, a spacious Knowledge Resource Center, a Digital studio, Datacenter, and a Placement Center.
A Health and Fitness block with a Wellness center, Pharmacy, Gym, Yoga room, Club rooms, Music room, Canteen, Bank, Salon, and shops for essential supplies.
The academic block will have large-sized classrooms and laboratories. Overall it will have 30 Classrooms/Labs spread across 5 floors.
