Infosys, the tech giant has offered attractive incentives to its employees to relocate to its Hubballi Development Centre (DC) to strengthen its presence in North Karnataka.
Infosys Hubballi Development Centre is the only recognised IT SEZ in the entire North Karnataka. Phase-1 of Infosys SEZ has a seating capacity of around 1500 employees.
According to an article in the Economic Times, Infosys has announced a transfer policy offering an incentive package to its employees willing to take a transfer to Hubballi.
The policy applies to employees at Band 2 and above handling projects (delivery) from any of its Development Centres across India. The move is likely to benefit employees from North Karnataka.
Employees at Band 3 and below will get 25,000₹ at the time of relocation and ₹25,000 for every 6 months essentially getting a benefit of ₹1,25,000 at the end of 2 years.
Among others, The employees on Level 4 will get ₹2.5 Lakhs. Whereas, employees on Levels 5, 6 and 7 will get ₹5 Lakh, ₹6 Lakh and ₹8 Lakh respectively at the end of 2 years.
Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi said, “I Wholeheartedly appreciate Infosys for its incentives to employees transferring to its Hubballi campus. Earlier demands were made by public representatives for increased activity at Hubballi DC”.
Hubballi Dharwad West MLA Arvind Bellad said “As an MLA, my primary responsibility is to fight for the development of my constituency and safeguard the interests of our people.”
“This initiative not only strengthens their operations but also promises to create direct and indirect employment opportunities, reuniting families and boosting regional development,” he added.
MB Patil, Minister for Commerce & Industries and Infrastructure, Government of Karnataka lauded Infosys for announcing Transfer policy at its Hubballi campus.
Taking to Twitter, he said, “The move encourages local talent from the Kittur Karnataka region to explore opportunities closer to home, fostering community ties and local development.”

It may be worth mentioning that the StartInfosys-Hubli campaign made Infy start operations from its Hubballi campus. The tech giant formally started operations at Hubballi DC on August 1st, 2022.

On the very first day, Around 25+ employees of Infosys had started working on the Hubballi campus. The campus in its full capacity is expected to employ around 5000 techies in the IT/ITES sector.
