August 1st, 2022: The day will be etched forever in the history of North Karnataka. Tech giant Infosys formally started operations from its Hubballi Development Center.
On the first day, Around 25+ employees of Infosys started working from the Hubballi campus. The employees were in all smiles as they walked into the Development Centre.
To mark the success of the ‘Start Infosys Hubli‘ campaign, the team had arranged a small celebration outside the Infosys campus earlier today.
The celebration was attended by all the team members as well as noted IT dignitaries of the North Karnataka region including Santosh Huralikoppi, CEO of NS Infotech.
However, Infosys is yet to announce the same through its press release. But it is said that an internal communication has already been sent to the Infosys employees about operationalizing Hubballi DC.
Many farmers who gave their land to construct the Infosys campus in Hubballi attended the event. Farmers expressed their happiness and lauded the efforts of the team.
Another thing to note is that Infosys has started hiring for Housekeeping and Garden maintenance staff at Hubballi. So Infosys is definitely making moves to start full-fledged operations soon.
Phase-1 of the Infosys SEZ is expected to employ around 1500 employees. The campus in its full capacity is expected to employ around 5000 techies in the IT/ITES sector.
However, the fight is not over yet. Hubballi needs to be projected as a prospective IT destination. Other companies should follow the suit of Infosys for the benefit of North Karnataka techies.
