Some good news for the citizens of Dharwad! Government of Karnataka has decided to build an International standard Sports complex at the Karnataka University campus, Dharwad.
The sports complex which is half-finished in the Karnataka University campus, Dharwad will soon be converted into a global-level facility. Once finished it is going to be one of its kind in North Karnataka.
The work to build Asia’s largest Sports complex at Dharwad was started in the year 1996. The work was halted due to various technical and other reasons.
Labour Minister and Dharwad district in charge Santosh Lad visited the Karnataka University campus in Dharwad and inspected the Sports complex site.
‘The cleaning work of the sports complex will be carried out with the help of JCB in the next week. Stadium beautification will be given a top priority’ the minister added.
The minister added that the Sports complex will be designed to facilitate hosting various sports. A new proposal will be submitted to the Government of Karnataka for more funds.
Citizens of Dharwad are expecting to get a full-fledged Sports facility on the Karnataka University campus soon. The facility is going to help athletes of the North Karnataka region.
KUD Chancellor Prof. KB Gudasi, Valuation Chancellor Prof. N.Y. Mattihala, Head of KUD Sports Department Dr. B. M. Patil, HDMC member Dr. Mayura, KUD officials, Athletes, and students were present during the inspection.
