Water is diverted for agricultural purposes from the Renuka Sagar Reservoir which falls under Malaprabha Project Zone through Malaprabha Right Bank Canal, Naragunda Branch Canal, and Kolachi Right Bank Canal.
Therefore, the farmers of nearby areas have been requested to grow only lightly irrigated crops in 60% of their fields and to economize on water consumption.
It is prohibited for the public to go swimming, wash the cattle and calves etc on the banks of the main canal where the water flows, keeping in mind the safety of public.
In this direction, the Superintending Engineer of Malaprabha Project Corporation, Dharwad has requested the cooperation of people and farmers in the regard.
