Toll collection to stop on Hubballi Dharwad Bypass from September 7

There is some good news for the people of Hubballi Dharwad. Toll collection on the Hubballi Dharwad Bypass will stop from September 7th, 2024.

Nandi Highway Developers Limited (NHDL) will stop collecting toll on the Hubballi Dharwad Bypass effective from September 7th, 2024. Details are as follows.

A circular from Nandi Highway Developers Limited has confirmed the same. The company will stop collecting toll and as a result, employees working under the company will be released after 7th September.

Nandi Highway Developers Limited has terminated the contract to maintain the Hubballi Dharwad bypass road. Road users can now use the bypass toll-free from 7th September.

NHDL had entered into an agreement with the government to Construct, Maintain, Collect toll and hand over the bypass to the government on 5th of February 1998.

As per the agreement, NHDL was supposed to stop toll collection from May 5th 2024. However, the government had extended the toll collection till September 7th to bear the losses to the company.

One of the most important projects for the Hubballi Dharwad people, the Widening of Hubli Dharwad bypass is going on at a good pace. Here is the latest update as of July 2024.

The project is being executed under EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) mode, and is likely to be completed within 2.5 years. The estimated cost of construction is ₹1200 Crores.

All toll plazas across the existing 2-lane HD bypass will be removed, and only one Toll plaza will be constructed. Another thing to note is that travellers between Hubballi and Dharwad will be exempted from paying the toll.

    1. It’s a boon for Dharwad Hubli people that after 16 years a relief to travel freely to their agricultural lands, homes than going through city TRAFFIC & travellers beyond Hubli or Dharwad cities.
