A roundabout near Tolanakere Park is getting a Yellow box junction. Workers were seen marking the roundabout with yellow stripes to indicate that the junction is a Yellow Box Junction.
The meaning of Yellow Box junction: People may enter the junction only when the exit is clear. The entire space is a no-waiting zone, one has to continue moving without stopping at the junction.
Yellow box junctions are usually found at the junction of two or more roads. The setup is used to prevent congestion and gridlocks at the junctions.
The roundabout is one of the first planned roundabouts/circles of Hubballi city. All the major circles of Hubballi city lack proper traffic management and are in a dilapidated state.
Tolanakere roundabout connects 3 major roads viz TenderSure road to Airport via Kumar Park, Renuka Nagar, and TenderSure road to Gokul Road via Ravinagar and Basaveshwara Nagar.
Hubballi Dharwad Smart City Limited (HDSCL) has undertaken the construction of the Tolanakere roundabout as part of the Smart Streetscapes and Junction improvement project.
HDSCL has undertaken the re-development of Tolanakere and a park adjacent to it at a cost of ₹15.57 Crores. The renovation of the park was started in early 2019.
Now, the renovated lake and a park adjacent is open for the citizens of Hubballi. One may visit Tolanakere from 6 AM to 9 AM in the morning and 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM during evening.
