SWR has booked 6,27,014 cases of Ticketless travelling and collected a fine of ₹46.31 Crores during the current financial year (FY 2023-24) from April 2023 to December 2023.
The fine collected is 9.95 % more than the corresponding period of last year and the highest ever since the inception of SWR. SWR aims to curb ticketless and irregular travel.
Regular Ticket Checking drives have been conducted to ensure comfortable travel and better services to all authorized rail users in Mail/Express, and passenger trains.
The Division-wise fines collected in the current financial year up to December 2023 are as follows.
Hubballi division has booked 96,790 cases and collected a fine of ₹6.36 Crores. Whereas, the Bengaluru division has booked 3,68,205 cases and collected a fine of ₹28.26 Crores.
Mysuru division has booked 1,00,538 cases and collected a fine of ₹5.91 Crores. Whereas, Head Quarters Flying Squad has booked 61,481 cases and collected a fine of ₹5.77 Crores.
Ticket Checking Staff of South Western Railway have done commendable work during the current financial year i.e. from 1st April to 31st December 2023.
As per the Railway Act of 1989 (Section 138), a penalty of ₹250 or equivalent to fare (whichever is more) shall be collected from any passenger found travelling without a proper pass or ticket.
