Union Minister and Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi visited the under construction Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dharwad campus near Chikkamalligawad on the outskirts of Dharwad today.
Speaking after inspecting the progress, he said that ‘The construction of IIT Dharwad Permanent Campus is almost at the final stage, and it will be completed soon’.
Pralhad Joshi also reaffirmed the presence of PM Shri Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Dharwad campus of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).
During the inauguration of IIIT-Dharwad by honourable President Droupadi Murmu, Pralhad Joshi had announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate IIT Dharwad.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone for the permanent campus of both IIIT-Dharwad and IIT-Dharwad simultaneously at a function in Hubballi on 10th February, 2019.
The first citizen of India, President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the permanent campus of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-Dharwad) campus on September 26th, 2022.
IIT, Dharwad was formally inaugurated on 28th August 2016 at a temporary campus located at Water and Land Management Institute (Walmi) campus near the High court bench of Dharwad.

IIT, Dharwad is one amongst the 23 IITs in the country and Hubballi Dharwad is proud enough to host 2 institutes i.e IIT-Dharwad and IIIT-Dharwad both being the institutes of national importance.
The permanent campus of IIT Dharwad is coming up at a sprawling 470.2 acres of land near Chikkamalligawad Village about 3.5kms away from the temporary campus.
