Smt. Priyanga Madhan (IAS) took charge as the Managing Director (MD) of the North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) earlier today.
Priyanga Madhan is an IAS officer from the 2017 batch. She took over the charge from Mr. Bharath Selvan who is now posted as the CEO of Gadag Zilla Panchayat.
Citizens of North Karnataka are hoping Smt. Priyanga Madhan to follow the suit of Mr. Bharath Selvan who was one of the most citizen-friendly MDs NWKRTC has ever had.
During his tenure, he revolutionised the way people buy bus tickets in NWKRTC buses. He was instrumental in introducing UPI Payment as a mode to buy bus tickets.
Bharath pioneered accepting UPI payments in the buses operated by Hubballi Mofussil-3 depot as a pilot project. The move eased the way people buy tickets in the buses.
The move quickly gained traction as more than 6000+ transactions were done in just 20 days. NWKRTC selected the Hubballi M-3 depot as it had a better-trained crew and high-value tickets.
Encouraged by the positive response, NWKRTC MD Bharath Selvan extended the facility to all 6 districts under the jurisdiction of NWKRTC making it the first RTC to accept UPI throughout its jurisdiction.

One request the bus service which is for the Pune the bus which leaves at 9, 9.30, 10.15 and 10.30 pm bus are out dated on. Pls introduce the new bus for this route. When compared to Bangalore we have new bus. But when it comes to Maharashtra that too for Pune they have old buses.pls take necessary action on it.
