In order to promote green energy and reduce pollution levels, North Western Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) has decided to procure 350 Electric buses.
Among 350 buses, 150 buses will be used for City transportation services and 200 buses will be used to run Mofussil services. The buses will be operated under the GCC (Gross Cost Contract) model.
The GCC model requires the operator to procure the Electric buses as well as implement the charging infrastructure, which saves NWKRTC from initial capital investment.
Currently, NWKRTC operates 4539 schedules with 4830 buses. The addition of Electric buses helps NWKRTC to phase out the old buses for the convenience of travelers.
Taking to Twitter, NWKRTC MD Bharath Selvan informed about the procurement of Electric buses. The total cost of the tender is estimated to be ₹1750 Crores.
“It will be NWKRTC’s stride towards a Sustainable Eco-friendly public transportation system” he added. As of now, BMTC and KSRTC are operating Electric buses in its jurisdiction.
The eligible parties can submit their tenders before 5:30 PM on the 8th of April, 2024. For further details, one may contact the helpline at 7022009113 or 7760988557.
