Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi conducted Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) meeting at Hubballi Airport earlier today. Many improvements have been proposed during the meeting.
Hubballi Airport director (APD) and his team presented a detailed document on the expansion of the terminal. Hubballi Airport will be remodelled into a World-class terminal in the next 2–3 years.
Pralhad Joshi suggested Airport Authority of India (AAI) incorporate provisions for Customs facilities during the expansion. It will facilitate the operation of International flights from Hubballi.
Provision for Customs facilities in the new terminal makes the new terminal ready for International operations. As and when the airlines are ready, International flights can be started from here.
Pralhad Joshi emphasized the importance of seeking inputs from the citizens and experts to improve the expansion of the terminal and other facilities.
Sunil Nalavade, member of the Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) suggested IndiGo to restore Ahmedabad flight and explore new routes like Kolkata, Jodhpur, and Jaipur, etc.
Efforts are being made to allow Ola/Uber services in the Airport. Space will be allocated outside the airport for an Auto stand, the matter is being addressed by the Police Commissioner.
During the meeting, AAC members noticed that many chairs in the departure area were in poor condition. APD of Hubballi Airport assured the members that the seats will be replaced soon.
Concerns were raised about the speeding vehicles on the Airport road. AAC members suggested installing Rumble strips near the entrance of the airport to slow down vehicles.
Overall, the meeting addressed various aspects of Airport management, from infrastructure development to passenger amenities and safety measures.
