Jonty Rhodes, former International cricketer from South Africa is visiting Hubballi today. He will be attending the BNI Biz Utsav 2023 at Royal Ritz Hotel in Amargol, Hubballi today (July 1).
Jonathan Neil “Jonty” Rhodes is a South African professional cricket coach, Commentator, and former Test and One Day International cricketer.
Jonty Rhodes is regarded as one of the greatest fielders of all time and was the first South African cricketer to take 100 ODI catches. He played for the South African cricket team between 1992 and 2003.
He is the fielding coach of the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League. Rhodes was a member of the South Africa cricket team that won the 1998 ICC KnockOut Trophy, the only ICC trophy the country has won.
On 14 November 1993, Rhodes took a world record of five catches, to achieve the most dismissals by a fielder against the West Indies at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
Jonty is an ardent fan of the rich Indian culture and heritage and has even named his daughter as India. ‘I would go out, especially on a Saturday or a Sunday morning, with a group of riders, and try and experience as much of India as possible” says Jonty himself.
The South African cricket legend was amused by the amount of rain that has poured in Mumbai over the last 24 hours, doubting his flight to Hubli in the inclement weather.
He tweeted a photo with the caption “Should be a “fun” flight to Hubli in this weather, on that plane”. Jonty travelled from Mumbai to Hubballi on IndiGo‘s ATR flight (6E 7292).
