IndiGo starts Shivamogga to Bengaluru flight

India’s largest airline IndiGo has started Bengaluru to Shivamogga flight from today. It is the first commercial flight to be operated from Kuvempu Airport, Shimoga.

The inaugural flight (6E 7731) from Bengaluru landed at Shivamogga Airport around 10:45 AM. The inaugural flight had full load. Return flight to Bengaluru (6E 7732) took off from Shivamogga at 12:08 PM.

IndiGo has deployed 78-seater ATR-72 aircraft for the same. The flight will operate on all days of the week. Shivamogga is IndiGo’s 79th Domestic destination in India.

The schedule of the flight is as follows: Bengaluru to Shivamogga flight (6E-7731) leaves Bengaluru Airport (BLR) at 9:50 AM and reaches Shivamogga Airport (RQY) at 11:05 AM.

In the return direction, Shivamogga to Bengaluru flight (6E-7732) leaves Shivamogga Airport (RQY) at 11:25 AM and reaches Bengaluru Airport (BLR) at 12:25 PM.

Shivamogga Airport (IATA: RQY, ICAO: VOSH), officially renamed Kuvempu Airport, is a Domestic Airport serving the city of Shivamogga. It is located at Sogane around 8.8 km from Shivamogga.

Shivamogga MP BY Raghavendra said, “The Shivamogga Airport will establish itself as not merely an airport but as the gateway of Malnad region’s journey to transformation”.

“The Airport will cater to the demand of not just the people of Shivamogga but also the entire Central Karnataka. It will give wings of aspirations to the youth and will create lakhs of employment opportunities for them”, he added.

The airport is designed to operate Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 type aircraft and can handle about 350 peak-hour passengers. The airport was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on February 27, 2023.
