Hubballi-Dharwad selected for the ‘Nurturing Neighbourhoods Challenge’

The Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs announced 25 shortlisted cities for the ‘Nurturing Neighbourhoods Challenge’. The Challenge is a 3-year initiative aimed at promoting the health and well-being of young children.

Hubballi-Dharwad is one of the 25 cities included in the initiative. Other cities included are as follows – Agartala, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Dharamshala, Erode, Hyderabad, Indore, Jabalpur, Kakinada, Kochi, Kohima, Kota, Nagpur, Rajkot, Ranchi, Rohtak, Rourkela, Salem, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruppur, Ujjain, Vadodara, and Warangal.

The main objectives of the mission include:

  • Make streets Safe and Walkable for Young Children and their Caretakers.
  • Reimagine Public Open Spaces for Playing and Interaction.
  • Adapt public spaces with Early Childhood Amenities.
  • Improve Access to Early Childhood Services .
