Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Veena Baradwad (Corporator of Ward number 49) has been elected as the new Mayor of the Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC).
Veena Baradwad was selected as the Mayor for the 22nd term of Huballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) by securing 46 votes.
Another member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Satish Hangal (Corporator of War number 32) has been elected as the Deputy Mayor of the Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC).
Informing the media, Nitesh Patil the presiding officer of the elections and the Commissioner of Belagavi division said that the Members casted their votes by raising hands.
He also informed that Suvarna Kallakuntala (Member of Ward 59) got 37 votes and Vaheedakhanam Allahabhaksha Kittur (Member of Ward 76) got 3 votes.
Satish Surendra Hanagal, member of the 32nd ward of the HDMC, has been elected as the Deputy Mayor for the 22nd term of the Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation getting 46 votes.
Rajasekhara Kamathi (Member of Ward number 4) who contested for the seat of Deputy Mayor got 37 votes and another contestant Nazira Ahmad Mehbubasaba Honyala (Member of Ward number 4) got 3 votes.
A total of 89 voters including members of the corporation, members of the Lok Sabha, MLAs and members of the Legislative Council were eligible to cast the votes for the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation.
86 people casted their votes to select Mayor and Deputy Mayor. Vidhan Parishad Speaker Basavaraja Horatti, Dharwad Rural MLA Vinay Kulkarni and Saraswati Dongadi (Member of Ward number 54) were absent.
